FlowDeck builds and runs your apps without Xcode. Pick a scheme and destination from the toolbar, then build — or ask the agent to do it.
Setting up a project
When you open a workspace or project, FlowDeck discovers available schemes and build configurations automatically. Select your scheme and destination from the toolbar before building.
Not sure which scheme to use? Ask the agent: “What schemes are available in this project?”
Building
Click Build in the toolbar, or press ⌘B.
When the build finishes, the Inspector opens automatically on the Issues tab if there are errors. Click any issue to jump to the source file.
Build configurations
Switch between Debug and Release from the configuration selector in the toolbar. Debug is the default for development; use Release to test performance or prepare for distribution.
Clean build
Press ⌘⇧K, or choose Project → Clean.
Running on a simulator
- Select an iOS simulator from the destination picker in the toolbar
- Click Run (or press ⌘R)
FlowDeck boots the simulator if needed, installs your app, and launches it. Log output streams in the Console (⌘⇧Y).
Switching simulators
Change the destination in the toolbar at any time. The next run targets the new simulator. The destination picker has a Filter search field to quickly find a specific device.
Running on a physical device
- Connect your device via USB (or pair wirelessly via Xcode’s Device Manager)
- Select the device from the destination picker in the toolbar
- Click Run
FlowDeck handles provisioning and signing using your existing Xcode credentials. If there’s a signing issue, it appears in the Inspector’s Issues tab.
Running a macOS app
Select My Mac as the destination and click Run. The app launches natively on your Mac.
For Mac Catalyst, select My Mac Catalyst from the destination picker.
Run Without Building
To launch the last built binary without recompiling, use Run Without Building from the Run toolbar dropdown, or press ⌃⌘R. If no prior build exists, FlowDeck falls back to a full build automatically.
Log streaming
When your app is running, log output streams in the Console panel at the bottom of the window. Toggle it with ⌘⇧Y. See Logging for filtering and search.
Using the agent
The agent can build, interpret errors, and fix them in a single step:
Troubleshooting
Build errors in the Issues tab
Click any issue to jump to the source. The Fix All button in the Issues tab sends all current errors to the agent for resolution in one step.
Signing failures
Ensure your Apple ID is signed in via Xcode → Settings → Accounts and the bundle identifier matches a provisioning profile in your account.
Build succeeds but app won’t launch
Check that the selected simulator or device is compatible with the deployment target in your project settings (Project → Project Settings… or ⌘⇧,).
