Settings & External Tools

Open Settings from the FlowDeck menu to adjust the app, your agents, and the tools around your projects. Settings are stored on this Mac; project build settings remain separate and are saved per worktree.

AI and workflow preferences

The AI sections let you choose the agents and models that appear in FlowDeck, set default, utility, and planning agents, and review the tools an agent may use without asking again. You can also decide whether chat shows reasoning and tool calls. Use Agents to enable the installed provider CLIs you want to offer, then use Model List to hide models from chat and command pickers without removing them. If a provider is missing or signed out, install or authenticate it in your terminal and choose Refresh list. FlowDeck keeps an unavailable saved choice visible so you can replace it; it does not silently select another provider or model. Default, planning, and utility agent roles each have their own agent, model, reasoning-effort, and permission defaults. These defaults apply when a new session is configured; they do not rewrite the instructions of a session already running. AI Workflows contains the Coding Standards and Validation controls. Use them to choose the guidance agents receive and how they check and report their work.

Appearance and reading

The Appearance section controls the system, light, or dark interface mode, window tint, log-viewer theme, and chat and diff-viewer fonts. Changes apply immediately, so you can choose a combination that is comfortable for long reviews.

External Tools

FlowDeck can hand the current worktree to tools already installed on your Mac. In External Tools, select a default editor, diff tool, and terminal. Only installed apps are offered. Use a worktree’s menu or Open Quickly to send it to the selected editor, diff tool, or terminal. FlowDeck never installs these apps or changes their own settings.

Apple development and Git

Apple Toolchain manages the Xcode versions and simulator platforms available to FlowDeck. Choose a specific project, scheme, configuration, and destination from the project’s build settings; those choices belong to that worktree, not to the global Settings window. The Git and GitHub sections configure generated commit messages, automatic commit or push behavior, pull-request defaults, PR monitoring, and the GitHub connection. These settings support the workflows described in Source Control; they do not override the review steps you choose for an individual change. To connect GitHub, follow the device-flow sign-in shown in Settings or when adding a project. Once connected, GitHub is available as an Add Project source for browsing, searching, and cloning repositories. FlowDeck stores the connection for the app and uses it only for the GitHub workflows you start. Disconnecting stops those workflows until you sign in again. Under Integrations, Linear has its own pane beside GitHub when the Linear feature flag is enabled. Connect your account there. See Linear. GitHub’s device-flow sign-in is unchanged.

License

FlowDeck checks for a Studio or Teams license before opening the workspace. If no eligible license is present, the activation screen lets you start a trial or paste an activation key. A FlowDeck CLI-only license remains valid for the CLI but does not unlock FlowDeck for Mac. Use License to review the masked key, product, plan, status, renewal or expiry date, and machine usage. Manage License opens the account site. Remove License asks for confirmation, deactivates this Mac, and returns FlowDeck to the activation screen. Because the app and CLI use the same machine license record, removing it also removes the local CLI activation. For activation or account problems, see Support.
